Eva Longoria has vowed to learn French by the end of the year.

The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star wants to be able to converse with her basketball husband Tony Parker in his native language.

She said: “I’ve sworn to myself that I’m going to be able to speak passable French this year. I should be working on it right now, to tell you the truth, but I’m having fun being relaxed and laid-back and I don’t want to get stressed out.

“Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria wants to get back to her Latino roots and portray one of two Mexican cinema stars. Longoria was in Mexico recently promoting a new ice-cream line and she told reporters that she wan keen on playing either Maria Felix or Dolores del Rio. They are both huge legends in South America, contactmusic.com reports.

She said: “I would love to play a strong woman, especially in Latin culture. I did my own research to learn more about the writers, directors and great stars of Mexican cinema.”

With all the restaurants and clubs rolling out the red carpet to celebrities during Fashion Week, the last place you’d ever expect to spot Eva Longoria Parker grabbing a bite to eat would be an anonymous midtown pizza joint. And yet that’s exactly where OK! caught up with the Desperate Housewives hottie and her good friend and stylist extraordinaire Robert Verdi.

“I love New York pizza!” laughs the petite beauty, dressed in a Naeem Khan creation — an orange tunic-like dress laced with multicolor paisley designs. It’s been one of her favorite dresses to wear this season, she tells OK!.

Eva Longoria Parker is not pregnant. This we know from hubby Tony Parker, who tells Le Parisien, “Not for the moment.” And from Eva herself, who says she gained weight eating pasta during the writers’ strike.

What we didn’t know about is her somewhat odd obsession with a slightly dated trend: Uggs.

The actress still owns the original pair she bought on eBay with her first big paycheck, according to an In Style profile.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star EVA LONGORIA PARKER is hoping to following in the footsteps of pal VICTORIA BECKHAM and launch a music career.

But the actress, 32, who joined Beckham and her Spice Girls bandmates at their Manchester, England gig last week (ends25Jan08), doesn’t rate her singing abilities.

She says, “I was singing long before I was acting, but I was never going to be Madonna.”

Eva Longoria (in Naeem Khan) shows off her new short curls at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Longoria Parker and the rest of the Desperate Housewives cast are up for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series”.

On the red carpet, Eva cleared up some rumors–she’s not pregnant. Eva said she was shopping at baby stores for Jennifer Lopez!

When Eva Longoria Parker was first drawn to “Over Her Dead Body,” opening Feb. 1, it wasn’t for the more prominent, sweet female love-interest role (taken by newcomer Lake Bell). Oh no, she was more interested in the part of a spirited spirit who works from beyond to stop Bell from hooking up with her former fiancé, played by Paul Rudd.

After all, at the time the romantic comedy was called “Ghost Bitch.” How could a star of the deliciously dark-hearted “Desperate Housewives” resist?

While her husband Tony Parker readies the start of a 14-game stretch in which he’ll play 12 times on the road, Eva Longoria was spotted enjoying the comfortable surroundings offered up by the Mandarin Hotel in Miami, Florida.

The Desperate Housewife has recently been talkative with press, weighing in on pregnancy rumors, as well as a lawsuit against X17 photo agency brought on by her hubby.

In regards to talk that a baby is on the way, Eva said: “No pregnancy, not yet. I’ve been cooking and eating, cooking and eating. I keep telling everyone that I’ve gained 10 pounds just being on strike.”

Meanwhile, Eva’s man has filed a $20 million lawsuit over allegations claiming that he has cheated on her multiple times with a French model.

“Tony and I are really tough-skinned,” Longoria told of the situation. She and Parker “ignore most offensive gossip, but with this case she sees a principle, because of a proliferation of websites with blogs and message boards, on which “you can write anything and not be held accountable.”
