Eva Longoria has laughed off reports that England football icon David Beckham could be set for a role as a gay neighbor in hit US television show “Desperate Housewives”.

Longoria said in an interview with US celebrity news show “Extra” that reports Beckham might partner pop star Robbie Williams in a quirky cameo as Wisteria Lane’s first gay couple were wide of the mark.

The actress said she had broached the subject with Beckham’s wife Victoria in a recent conversation.

“No, talked to Victoria the other day,” Longoria said. “I told her about that rumor, she was laughing. David had a good laugh out of it. No, they are not coming on the show.”

Longoria, who married French basketball star Tony Parker earlier this year, meanwhile said the newlyweds planned to raise their family in the United States.

“Tony definitely wants to live in Texas. We both want to live in Texas,” she said. “We’ll spend our summers in France. We want to do both, but they’ll be raised in America.”

Actress Eva Longoria has confirmed that she and pop star Beyonce Knowles are currently in talks to star in a big screen adaptation of ?Tipping The Velvet?.

The Sarah Waters novel about a love affair between two women has already been made into a drama series for the BBC but it is now set to hit the silver screen with director Sophia Coppola at the helm.

Longoria said of the film to BreakingNews: “Yes it’s true, we’re talking about doing that. It’s such a wonderful novel, a beautiful love story.?

Knowles added: “We’ve had ?Brokeback Mountain? so the time is right for this divine novel to get the same treatment.”

Newlywed Eva Longoria has vowed to put motherhood on hold, because she doesn’t want to leave “Desperate Housewives.”

The 32-year-old actress married French basketball ace Tony Parker earlier this year and has made no secret of her wish to start a family one day, but the beauty is determined to put her career first and concentrate on the hit TV series that made her a star.

She says, “Tony wants children and so do I, but I’m also involved in a very successful series, which has been the greatest break in my career and I have to be respectful of that.

“This is our fourth series now, and we’re looking at several more years hopefully, so having a baby is a huge decision.

“We’re going to wait and think a while before we make that step.”
